Bridge Breaking Competition

UMaine ASCE Student Chapter will again host the Bridge Breaking Competition at the 73rd Maine Transportation Conference. Challenge your co-workers, consultants, contractors and students! Show off your engineering & construction skills.

The kits will be mailed upon request, but no later than November 21st, so bridges can be painstakingly designed and built in advance. Bridges will first be weighed and then tested to failure in a test frame. The most efficient (strength-to-weight ratio) bridge will win! Prizes will be awarded for First- and Second-Place bridges and for the Top Student Bridge. Rules for this year's contest will be provided in the kit and can be downloaded here: 2024 Bridge Breaking Rules.

($20.00/ea.)

Evening Reception

Please stay and join WTS-Maine for a post-conference reception following the bridge breaking competition. This social networking will be a great way to kick off the holiday season with your colleagues, complete with the often imitated, but rarely duplicated Gingerbread House Build Competition.

Cost for the reception is $20, includes hearty appetizers and a cash bar and is open to all, regardless of whether you are a member of WTS-Maine.
